Inspired by Experience

When Medical Director Dr. Sandra Petersen suffered a stroke, she lost movement on one side of her body and her speech was severely impaired. Working with a brain specialist, she began to rebuild pathways in her brain by utilizing concepts of neuroplasticity. Today, we apply those concepts along with her 30 year knowledge and background in the memory care field to our unique approach, the Connections program.

“The whole experience gave me not only sympathy, but empathy for those that struggle with cognitive decline,” says Dr. Petersen.

What level of care is included in memory care?

We can help your loved one regain a sense of security. Memory care typically means a separate wing of the community for supervision and attention toward residents with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s.

At Creston Village, a licensed nurse in our community is at the head of our specially-trained team of memory care professionals. We can take care of your loved one holistically, meaning we care for the whole person. We monitor health and medications, but we also engage our residents physically and mentally with an array of fun activities and exciting excursions.

You want the best for your loved one and so do we. We’ll care for them with specialized resources so that you can rest assured that they are happy and secure. We know a decision about your loved one’s care is a big one, and you probably have many questions. We can help get you the answers you need.
