Rose and Earl M. are still sweet on each other, and it’s plain to see. The couple recently celebrated 65 wonderful years together.
To make their anniversary extra special, the team at Laketown Village Assisted Living & Memory Care pulled out all the stops to host a dinner for the couple. They dined on steak and shrimp and finished with a beautifully crafted cake.
About the couple
Rose is 84 years old, and Earl is 85. The couple met at a New Year’s Eve dance at Sacred Heart High School. When Rose saw Earl from across the room, she told her cousin, “I am going to marry that man,” her cousin replied, “you don’t even know him.”
At the time, Earl had a girlfriend. Rose began dating Earl’s best friend, only to get to Earl, and it worked! When asked why they feel they are a good match, they both said, “because we are polar opposites!”
Rose and Earl enjoy spending time together and one unique hobby they have is being movie and TV extras. They have been in many films including “Green Book”, “Interview with the Vampire,” “Troop Zero,” “Three Days to Vegas,” and “The Pelican Brief.” They have also been extras in TV shows such as “NCIS New Orleans” and “Orleans” as well as been in commercials for Lamarque Ford, Winn-Dixie, the City of New Orleans, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Rose and Earl’s secret to a happy marriage is to always have respect for one another, always trust one another, and always keep the romance alive. They often hold hands and never go to bed without Earl grabbing Rose’s hand and saying, “I love you,” and Rose replies, “I love you more.”
