On July 22, 1924, the world welcomed Florence G. currently a senior living resident at Evergreen Place in Brockport. As Florence prepared to celebrate her 100th birthday, the senior living community planned a party in honor of this centenarian milestone.
Florence’s life includes over 50 years of wedded bliss with her husband. Together, they built and leased the building where she served as postmaster.
Florence’s dedication to her community extends beyond her professional life; for many years, she cooked for her church, preparing German-style meals and hosting German dinners that brought people together.
Florence also comes from a family with a flair for longevity—her mother celebrated a 100th birthday of her own. Later in life, Florence earned her GED, and her daughter helped Florence celebrate this milestone with a graduation party. Florence also became a naturalized citizen, marking another significant chapter in her life.
“Florence’s journey through a century of change and progress is simply amazing,” said Julie Westcott, Executive Director of Evergreen Place. “We were honored to celebrate Florence’s 100th birthday with her and to share her incredible story with everyone.”
