Seniors and Technology: Joe “Frank” Discovered a New Passion at 101 Years Old

More seniors are getting into technology, which can be a real game-changer for their retirement years. Just ask our 101-year-old resident Joe, who moved into Dunwoody Place in November 2021.

“I recently found a love for tampering with technology,” he said.

Thanks to technology for seniors, such as video calls, social media, and messaging apps, Joe is able to connect with family and friends. Plus, the internet is a treasure trove of info—from online courses to health resources—keeping seniors engaged and learning.

About Joe

Friends and family call Joe by his nickname, “Frank.” This centenarian was born in Paulding County, Georgia in May of 1923. He and his wife, Sara, had one son, Frank Jr. The family now includes two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Frank used to enjoy golfing and traveling with his wife, and now, he’s one of our busiest seniors. With technology, he’s always learning new things.

He’s a World War II Veteran and a former Executive Manager at AT&T, so his newfound passion is not surprising.

So, what’s his secret to longevity?

“Take care of yourself and be kind to others,” he said.
