Love That Lasts at The Legacy at Crystal Falls: Leander Seniors Celebrate 66 Years of Marriage

At The Legacy at Crystal Falls, a love story that began on a dance floor in Scotland continues to unfold. Peter and Margaret W. celebrated 66 years of marriage in March 2025, a journey marked by love, respect, and a shared sense of humor that has carried them through decades of life together.

Peter and Margaret W. celebrated 66 years of marriage at The Legacy at Crystal Falls, proving that love and laughter stand the test of time.

Peter grew up in Lochee, Scotland, while Margaret was raised in nearby Dundee. Their paths crossed in October 1957 at the Palais Dance Hall. Peter took one look at Margaret and thought, “I’m going to marry that girl.” Margaret’s first thought? “I hope he’s a good dancer.”

They married on February 21, 1959, and built a life together in Scotland before eventually settling in the United States. Peter worked in textile sales and later ran his own business, while Margaret managed office work and bookkeeping. Together, they raised three children. Their family grew to include seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, and another great-grandchild on the way.

When asked about the key to their lasting marriage, Peter’s advice was straightforward: “Do as you’re told.” Margaret, with a smile, added her own secret: “Stubbornness.” Their playful honesty, paired with a foundation of respect and compromise, has been the thread weaving their lives together.

“Their story is a reminder of what it means to choose each other, every day, for a lifetime,” said Charles Nelms, Executive Director. “It’s been a privilege to celebrate this milestone with them and to witness the bond they share.”
