Schertz Senior Celebrated 103rd Birthday on December First

The Legacy at Forest Ridge recently honored the 103rd birthday of William P., a long-time Texan and beloved member of our community.

William’s Adventurous Life Story

Born in Marshall, Texas, in 1921, he joined The Legacy at Forest Ridge in September 2021, quickly becoming a source of wisdom and warmth.

Since then, he has shared countless stories and memories with fellow residents and team members, bringing to life nearly a century of experiences.

William’s remarkable life includes service to his country as a member of the 13th Armored Division in World War II. Following his military service, he built a successful career in banking, where he rose to the position of Vice President at Richardson Bank and Trust.

A Lifetime of Love

In 1948, William married his wife, Eljean, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Together, they raised three children and later welcomed five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren into their lives. He and Eljean enjoyed antique collecting and flower gardening — a hobby he continues to appreciate.

Treasured Memories

The resident credits his longevity to “Believing in the Lord, abstaining from tobacco, and loving vegetables.” Looking back over his lifetime, he considers the invention of television to be the greatest technological advancement he has witnessed.

Celebrating More Than a Century

“Celebrating William’s 103rd birthday is really special for our community,” Sonya Garcia, Executive Director of The Legacy at Forest Ridge, shares. “His dedication to family, community, and country serves as an inspiration to everyone here. We’re grateful to be a part of this meaningful celebration.”
