Dunwoody Place is all tail wags and belly rubs as residents and pets celebrate Abby, who has won first place in the Jewish Atlanta Pets of 2024 competition. She’s a 12-year-old Shetland Sheepdog—that’s 84 in human years, so she fits right into our welcoming community.
Meet Abby and Her Caregiver, Diane
Abby lives with her loving owner, Diane, at Dunwoody Place. Diane describes Abby as her love and constant companion. “I just have to look at that beautiful face, and I melt,” Diane said. “She has the sweetest disposition with everyone she comes in contact with. Abby always seems to know what to do and how to act in any given situation; she is just intuitive and very smart.”
At 12 (dog years) old, Abby has lost most of her hearing, but this Sheltie still keeps up. Even though she can’t hear when she’s called, she watches Diane closely to follow her commands. Abby shows that love and loyalty go beyond any one sense, reminding us that she and Diane are growing older together and sharing life’s journey.
A Well-Deserved Doggy Honor
Winning the Jewish Atlanta Pets of 2024 is a well-earned title for Abby, whose gentle nature and unconditional love have captured the hearts of everyone at Dunwoody Place and now all across Atlanta!
“We’re so proud of Abby! She brings so much joy and comfort to everyone here,” shares Executive Director of Dunwoody Place, Sonya Downes. “Congratulations to our wonderful furry friend and her human companion, Diane, for this well-deserved recognition!”
