The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued emergency use authorizations (EUAs) for updated boosters for new variants of COVID-19. These formulas of the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccines are recommended for individuals 12 years of age and older. The updated boosters target both the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 and omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5.
