This Is Our History
The Pegasus team is led by pioneers of the assisted living movement in America.
1986:
Chris Hollister helped shape and define a new way of caring for seniors based on the principles of dignity, independence, and choice. These concepts evolved and combined to become known as “assisted living.” Chris was among the first to bring assisted living to the middle market with the “Carolina House” platform in the mid-90s. Recognizing the growing need for memory care and the challenge couples faced when one partner was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or dementia, Chris and his team pioneered the integration of memory care areas with assisted living facilities. This innovation is now the industry standard for most providers.
1996:
Rich Williams, now COO of Pegasus Senior Living, began his work with Chris Hollister. With 36 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including acute care hospital management and senior living operations, Rich has played an integral role in the development, acquisition, and management of senior living communities across the country.
2000s:
Dr. Sandra Petersen, a practicing medical professional since 1993, dedicated herself to serving older adults in assisted living, independent living, and memory care settings. After suffering a stroke and undergoing her own recovery more than a decade ago, Dr. Petersen shifted her focus to memory care, applying her rehabilitation therapies to residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. This personal experience informed her innovative approach to memory care.
2019:
Dr. Petersen joined the Pegasus team and developed the Connections program, a signature memory care initiative designed to help individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The program integrates her rehabilitation techniques and is now available in all Pegasus Senior Living communities offering memory care, setting a new standard of service for individuals with memory loss..
2024:
Pegasus Senior Living continues to expand, adding ten more communities to its portfolio. With the growth of its assisted living and memory care services, Pegasus is now serving even more families. The Connections program has been successfully implemented across all Pegasus memory care communities, further elevating the care and support provided to seniors and their families.
