Roswell WWII Veteran’s 100th Birthday Celebration

On Tuesday, December 3, Verna ‘Bunny’ Farmer turned 100 with a big celebration hosted by our team at Magnolia Place of Roswell.

Bunny’s Long History of Military Experience

Bunny, who has been part of the Magnolia Place family since 2010, served in the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) during World War II.

Her military work included critical aviation operations, such as ferrying equipment within the United States.

This service earned her several accolades, including the Good Conduct Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, and the WWII Victory Medal. Her last assignment was with the 400th Army Air Force Base Unit at Hamilton Field, California, where she contributed to vital wartime efforts.

How She’s Been Recognized

Bunny’s story has been widely appreciated and featured in military publications, including “She Served” magazine.

She continues to connect with veterans and organizations like the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), who have honored her with visits, flowers, and personalized gifts, such as a beautiful blanket recognizing her service.

How We’re Celebrating Her Story at Magnolia Place of Roswell

Those attending Bunny’s birthday will include friends and community members, as well as representatives from local organizations who wish to honor Bunny’s legacy.

“Bunny’s life represents dedication, resilience, and the spirit of service,” said Kevin Holyfield, Executive Director of Magnolia Place of Roswell. “It is a privilege to celebrate her 100th birthday and honor her remarkable contributions to history, the military, and our community.”

Earlier this year, Magnolia Place hosted a tribute in her honor, which included a visit from the “She Served” magazine and the DAR.

The December event is not the first time Bunny’s accomplishments have been recognized.

These moments have highlighted her impactful journey as a trailblazer for women in the military.
