At Pegasus Landing of Tanglewood, we’re proud to spotlight our accomplished chef, Cole Tsuchiyama. Chef Cole has been creating memorable dining experiences for residents, transforming each meal into an opportunity to connect and bring joy.
Cole’s Culinary Journey
Cole’s introduction to the culinary field began early. He started his career at age 15 in family-run restaurants in Chicago, where he discovered a passion for the fast-paced, high-stakes nature of professional kitchens.
He has built an approach that combines classic techniques with the lessons he’s learned from talented chefs he’s worked alongside.
His Commitment to Comfort Food at The Landing
“At The Farrington, Chef Cole’s dedication to his work and his genuine care for our residents bring something special to the dining experience,” said Scott Perlman, Executive Director. “The residents look forward to each meal he prepares, and his presence in our community has been a source of connection and joy.”

The menu at The Farrington reflects Chef Cole’s philosophy: it’s simple, genuine, and feels like it’s from the heart. His favorite meals to prepare include Texas-style slow-cooked ribs with house-made BBQ sauce, served alongside macaroni with scratch-made cheese sauce — a meal that has become a favorite among residents. His live cooking demonstrations, especially at the omelet bar, are another highlight, drawing enthusiastic participation.
What Makes Senior Living Dining Different
Cole finds his role in senior living particularly meaningful, as it allows him to build lasting relationships with residents. Unlike the quick turnover of traditional restaurants, he treasures the daily interactions he has with familiar faces. “Their gratitude towards us makes every day an easier day to get up and be excited about coming to work,” he shares.

Cole’s story reflects a strong standard of excellence, and this devotion is shown in his feedback to a question about the current state of culinary arts.
“I think we are all students in this industry,” Cole reflects. “Someone will always be able to do it differently, and sometimes better. So remain open-minded and willing to test new ideas and recipes.”
