The Chateau at Gardnerville believes in supporting the broader community beyond our senior living community. This commitment was on full display when our Community Sales Director Jessica Maidlow stepped onto the dance floor for a worthy cause.
Dancing Her Way to Victory
On April 11, Jessica took center stage at the annual Gotta Dance fundraiser benefiting the Suicide Prevention Network. With no previous performance experience, she wowed a sold-out crowd of 600 community members at the CVIC Hall in Minden, Nevada.

The results were nothing short of spectacular. Jessica raised $21,939 through ticket sales, sponsorships, and donations – the highest amount of any participant. Her performance with professional dancer Alex Kaskie earned perfect scores of 10 from all three judges, securing both the “Most Money Raised” and “Best Dance” awards.
“It was such an honor to be invited to participate in this year’s event,” said Jessica. “The entire experience was unforgettable, and I was blown away by the incredible support from our community for SPN.”
From Kitchen Dancer to Stage Star
Jessica, a lifelong resident of the area, brought enthusiasm and heart to her performance despite having no formal dance training. Her previous dance experience consisted solely of “dancing with friends in her kitchen,” making her perfect score even more impressive.
Her dance partner, Alex, a respected hip-hop instructor who teaches at several local studios, created choreography that highlighted their strengths as a team. His professional expertise combined with Jessica’s natural stage presence made a winning combination.
“If I made just one person smile that night, I already feel like I’ve won,” Jessica shared.
Community Connections
The event created special connections across generations. The Chateau resident Nancy attended to support Jessica but found herself with divided loyalties – her grandson Michael Koerner, a local realtor, also competed in the event.
“It was such a fun event, and I am so proud of all the celebrity dancers who participated,” Nancy shared. “Especially Jessica and Michael!”
The Gotta Dance fundraiser mirrors the popular TV show “Dancing with the Stars,” inviting ten local “celebrities” to train with professional dancers. Many of these professionals donate their time through The Dance Workshop, a vital supporter of the event.
“We are beyond proud of Jessica for stepping out of her comfort zone and representing The Chateau with such grace, humor, and heart,” said Katie Nichols, Executive Director of The Chateau at Gardnerville. “She danced not only for the cause but for the joy of our entire community.”
The total amount raised by the event is still growing as additional contributions come in, supporting the crucial work of the Suicide Prevention Network in our community.
