The Gardens of Marysville welcomes seniors from all walks of life, but our 100-year-old resident, Ruth, is exceptionally well-traveled. Her life story took her to many places, and it’s a tale worth sharing.
About Ruth
Ruth was born on March 5, 1924, in Bismark, North Dakota. She was raised on a farm where each child was given a cow to milk. Starting at five years old, Ruth had to get up at 5 a.m. every day to take care of business.
As she got older, they gave her more cows to care for.
Ruth started traveling with an Evangelist all over the U.S. and worked at hospitals and doctor’s offices to earn money. She became a nurse and began working at a Washington State hospital in 1950.
That’s where she met her husband—the couple married in 1952 and had three children. The family traveled quite a bit since her husband was in the Army.
This beloved traveling senior joined The Gardens at Marysville community on May 29, 2024.
Her secret to longevity is doing the Lord’s work. Ruth also enjoys helping others and working on jigsaw puzzles. In her opinion, the greatest technology invented so far is television.
